About CERDC Bikaner
Bikaner, a ceramic city of Rajasthan, is emerging as one of the fast growing industrial zone. The city is surrounded by mineral rich areas such as Barmer Jaisalmer Nagour, Available minerals include Gypsum, Clay and fossil fuel (Lignite coal, petroleum) etc.
Therefore there are bright possibilities of further calibration of industrial growth of the entire zone which are further accelerating the industrial land and availability of basic raw material for several mineral-based industries. There are ample of mineral resources in the region. The region has many local fairs, places and monuments of great importance for foreign tourists and will be proved as great pillar for industrial and economic growth to attract industrialists to invest their money. Therefore Ceramic Centre is the need of industry in this region.
The Ceramic Centre Bikaner was renamed as Ceramic Electrical Research & Development Centre (CERDC) Bikaner in year 2010.
The ceramic electrical research &development centre has been established by the Government of Rajasthan through the Ceramic Electrical Vikas Samiti Bikaner as a facility to provide an effective platform for testing &measurement services to the ceramic industry with NABL accreditation. It will be the only centre of its kind in north India.
At initial stage, most of work was directed towards identifying suitable mineral resources along with their suitability for specific product development within Rajasthan and its nearby areas. The quality control in respect of ceramic is given due attention with development of ceramic products on introduction of different minerals such as clay, gypsum for their suitability in specific uses
